Awwww...Easter

What does Easter mean to me??? Well when I as growing up, it was another holiday that we could run around and find the baskets that the Easter Bunny left for us kids somewhere around the house.  It was Easter egg hunts and big chocolate bunnies and it meant that spring was here, or close.  Sometimes it meant my birthday or that my birthday was coming up soon.  When I became an adult it meant another dinner, another day, another holiday that I really had no idea why it was a holiday.  Since Rylie was born, Mitch and I decided to start attending church and raise our kids in a way different then we had been raised (not that we were raised badly :) ).  We wanted to understand what the Bible was and what is was to be babtized and learn the stories of the Bible.  Most importantly we wanted to have Jesus Christ in our lives and teach our kids to lead a Christian life.  Anyways, I am getting a bit off track here, so let me get back on!  It was just recently that I along with some ladies in my bible study watched the "Passion of the Christ" and started understanding a bit more about the sacrifiece and the significance of what Easter really was.  I went to an Easter service at our church on Easter and on the stage was three crosses and the effect that looking at them had on me was pretty amazing.  Knowing what Easter was all about and why we celebrate it and seeing those crosses up there...well I was moved...so to answer the question that I asked in the beginning...what does Easter mean to me??  I means that Jesus is alive, he lives in my heart, it's a day to celebrate that He is alive, it is a day for being together, hunting eggs and baskets that the Easter bunny left, its a day for families, its a celebration of the reserection of Jesus Christ...that is what Easter is to me...Here are some photos that I took on Easter of my family and of the infamous Easter egg hunt!

Here is my baby girl...she really likes to find the
eggs but once she realized that there was candy
inside them, she lost precious egg hunting time by eating all the candy
before she moved on the the next egg!

Guilt Free Laziness!!

I love to be busy, I love to make lists and cross everything off that list...in fact to make it seem like I accomplish more than I intented, if I do something off the list like take a shower, you can bet that I write it down on my to do list and cross it off immediately afterward!  My husband thinks that I am crazy for this and he may be right...although when I make him his to do list, he sure gets a lot done!  So this morning I awoke to the wonderful sound of rain...and thought to myself, I can be totally lazy and not feel bad...woohoo!!  I don't know why rain gives me this feeling of laziness or power if you will, over my list making but it does.  My whole attitude changes when it is a dreary rainy day. There is no pressure to go play in the yard with the kids or find a fun adventure to do outside, it gives you the complete freedom to stay indoors and build forts or watch movies or just snuggle up with a blanket the kids or Mitch.  It gives you, (I have no idea why) the freedom to drink hot chocolate and order Chinese,  it gives you the freedom to feel ok about accomplishing absolute nothing all day...there is always tomorrow for the list...I love it!

WooHoo! Steve and Jessie are Engaged!!!

On the morning of the 17th I woke up excited because I was off to Bozeman to shoot the engagement photos for Jessie and Steve.  Now I knew Steve from high school and I got to meet Jessie a couple weeks before the shoot, so I knew that I was in for a lot of fun with this shoot.  I got to their place around noon and we took off from there to head up on the mountains so we could do some shots with their snowmobiles.  Now, I knew that there would be snow but I had no idea that at times I would be up to my hips in the white stuff!  I also had no idea that I would be riding across a lake, that I was sure was going to crack into a million pieces before we got to dry land!  That was only the start of this crazy day...we took a small hike up to a cabin, Steve took the harley to a place with a great mountain view so Jessie could have her harley photo, we almost had to stop traffic to do some shots in the middle of the road so I could get the perfect angle with the road line, went to the river only to have a fisherman get in the way of some of the best photos, and ended the day with a bumpy ride to the most beautiful silent place I have ever been to take some sunset shots.    I clicked the chutter for the last time at 7:30 and I have to say that it was the longest, most entertaining, funnest shoot I have ever been on...I cannot wait for the wedding!!

Do you know what the best feeling in the world is? To be missed, really missed. Missed like when you get home after being gone, your 3 year old baby girl just wants to nuggle (snuggle), when your 15 month old baby boy can't stop giving you those sweet sloppy open mouth kisses, when you dance with your husband in the kitchen while he holds a dish towel because he wants to let you rest so he cleans up after breakfast...it just amazing.

Listening to Jasmine Star=New Beginning!

Today is the beginning or what I want to call the beginning of my photography career. I know, I know I have been doing this already for awhile BUT today is the start of a new and exciting adventure for me. Until last night when I went to a seminar where Jasmine Star spoke, I thought that a blog was a mini little website and who wanted to know all about me? I had this idea that when potential clients went to my blog it was to view my current work and if they went for the first time, they just wanted to know where I was from blablabla...well I was so wrong. I want people who view my blog to know who I am, what I like, what I value, my goals, my failures, in a nut shell , who Jill Moore is, not Jill Moore Photography. So as I said before, this is the beginning...

I few months ago I was just hanging out probably with my 2 wonderful kids, when I got a phone call from my really good friend Kriea and she started started talking about WPPI. I was not really interested if you want to know the truth but I let her go on and on until I realized, hey this could be a really great experience for me. So long story short, I agreed to go. Well, as I sit here in Vegas at the WPPI I cannot express to you the absolutely amazing experience this has been so far. The wealth of information is pretty overwhelming to be honest, but this experience has been life changing for me personally, and in my career. I have met some pretty fabulous people, been able to hang out with old and new friends, start figuring out where I am going with my business and come on I'm in Vegas...who wouldn't love that experience! I am already planning for next year and what I want to focus on!

I am sitting here trying to decide how to end this little piece and decided to end with a goal or a quote or just something inspirational...so here goes. This is something that Jasmine Star said last night that stuck with me...Do not spend your time trying to be different, spend your time being you because YOU are different and that is all you need! I love it!
